Meet Matt McDermott for Council

Matt is a graduate of Atlantic Avenue Elementary and Haddon Heights High School. Matt now lives on 3rd Avenue with his daughter, Rosie, who is attending Kindergarten at Atlantic Avenue Elementary. Matt is currently the Head Wrestling Coach at the High School, coaches soccer and T-ball in the HHYA, and serves as President for the Garnets Alumni Association. The Association is a volunteer marketing arm for the Haddon Heights School District raising funds for scholarships and activities.

Matt has a Bachelor of Science degree from Rutgers University and is now a Certifed Public Accountant and owner of two businesses. Prior to starting his own business, Matt was a Vice President of Finance at Merrill Lynch and BlackRock with various leadership roles in the United States, Japan, Europe, and Australia. Matt spent his first 12 years after college working on Wall Street and abroad managing large audit and finance teams before moving back to Haddon Heights. Matt proudly provides pro bono accounting and tax services for various local not-for-profit groups like Haddon Glen Swim Club, VFW Post 1958 and others.

Matt brings his finance, mediation, marketing, and audit expertise to Council with a focus on lowering taxes, revitalizing the White Horse Pike for professional businesses, aligning business and community initiatives on Station Avenue, continue to push for improving our recreational and sporting facilities so we can do right for our kids, and he will champion the elimination of wasteful spending.

Matt is looking forward to the opportunity to serve the community of Haddon Heights with a role on the Borough Council. Vote Column 2 Republicans on November 5, 2019!
